Who is Tom Hebert?

Born and breed on the South Pacific island of New Caledonia, Tom has grown up in the ocean  kiting, surfing, sailing, paddle boarding and fishing. He has been kitesurfing since '99 and been the vice world champion twice, won multiple French and New Cal freestyle comps and been the only Frenchman to win a PKRA stop.

These days Tom lives in Noumea with his family when he's not travelling the world competing in the Redbull Big Air or doing photo shoots for his sponsors; North Kiteboarding.

Zephyr Tours has been working with Tom  since 2010 when he joined us on the Cocos Islands for our first advanced freestyle clinic.  Behind his cool, crazy, pin-up boy image is a professional and patient guy who is dedicated to inspiring everyone who kites to have fun – and to make it stylish #newcalstyle!

On this tour, Tom and his father-in-law Richard (the Captain), will guide you on an adventure of a lifetime where they will share their passion for sailing, kitesurfing, fishing and more.

The Adventure

This adventure begins the moment you arrive at La Tontouta airport in New Caledonia, where Tom and our Zephyr host will meet you and take you straight to the Yacht.  There is no time wasted as we cruise out to Master Island enjoying canapés and French Champagne to moor up for the night. If there is still day light - go kiting - this is what we are here for right?!

Spending a day or two close by Noumea, you'll be able to explore the amazing La Amede Island and light house (ask tom to jump it, he might), ride the perfect offshore waters along Maste Island. From the Islands, Tom will lead you back to the mainland  on your kites to the location of the PKRA event to ride with his mates on his home turf for the afternoon.

When you've explored all you can nearby, it's time to get truly lost and head up the coast. For the next week, your competent crew will follow the winds to the best kitespots along the coast on a one-way exploration were you'll see none (or very few) other kiters around from here on in.

Island hopping inside the reef and stopping by La Regneire, Signal and Mbe koin Islands, there will be plenty of time to explore these deserted islands where you can snorkel, relax and kite as much as you want.  A few days of sailing around here and you'll be so in touch with the ocean you'll forget what 'work' was.

If the conditions are right, Tom promises to head outside the reef to fish for pelagic's (tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi etc) and hopefully grab a wave or two between Mbe Koin and Tenia Islands.  Feel free to bring your surfboards or wave SUP or give wave kiting a go. With our host, Richard, Tom and the support boat, you'll be closely watched and feeling safe to try new things.

After a huge week of kiting and other ocean adventures, it's time to go back to land and back to reality.  Conveniently, Tom has planned for your adventure to end just north of La Tontouta airport so it's an easy trip back to Australia on the last day.

If that's not enough time in this South Pacific paradise, then we highly recommend staying an extra few nights to checkout the bustling nightlife, french restaurants and local attractions like the cable park and more kite beaches.

The Yacht - Lady Helen

This large 43ft sailing catamaran can comfortably sleep 5 guests and 3 crew.

There are 4 double cabins, 2 bathrooms and 3 single cabins for your crew; with a huge galley kitchen and plenty of outdoor living space.

Everyone will have their own cabin, unless in a couple.

The Wind

The winds are best and most reliable in the summer months Oct - Feb and that's when the best kiting conditions are best for Noumea. Expect 15-20 knots of warm, clean  winds coming in consistency most days from 11am to sunset.

In the event of no wind, don’t worry, Tom has all that covered. We all know he loves his adventure and a lot of the time that comes when its nice and calm, usually in the mornings.

He will keep you entertained, don't worry!

Getting there, around and home again

Arrive La Tontouta International Airport pickup 12:30pm
(Air Calin Syd/Bris –> NC arrive 11.30am)

Cruise ends just north of La Tontouta Airport in time for flight departures with transfers to airport at 10:30 am on last day.

NOTE: these flight times are subject to change but we will do our best to match accordingly.

Relax.... stay a little longer and explore Noumea

If you have the time, we highly recommended arriving early to explore Noumea for the day or tack a night on at the end.  If you choose to do this, you will need to make own arrangements to meet the crew at the correct departure place and time.

Tom loves to fish. Watch as Ben & Levi get dinner and learn a thing or two in the process.
