Meet the team

Our passion for all watersports and adventure, is the driving force embodied in all our team which we enthuse on all of our guests – it can’t be helped!

The Zephyr team consists of mature, friendly and qualified instructors and guides; and with a high ratio of team to guests we can always offer quality services with no fuss.

Jen Phillips – Founder, Owner & Director.

Since the inception of kiting and its popularity in Australia, Jen has been involved in the Australian kite scene since 2001. Taking part in many kite festivals and competitions such as Kitestock WA, various wave and freestyle National championships.

In 2013 she embarked on the biggest journey of her career… crossing the Torres Strait on Kite with a team of 16 others.  Recently Jen completed her Padi Freediver course and is happy to add it to her list of watersports she enjoys and offers through Zephyr.

These days Jen has the pleasure of watching her dedicated team run the show while sitting back sipping Piña colada’s under a palm tree. (She wishes)!

Ben Strowger –  Ocean Addicts, Stoke Coach & North team rider.

Ben looks good in the air, on the land and in the pub… and if you are ready, he can make you look good too. His friendly and positive outlook on life is contagious and his passion for kitesurfing and adventure will blow you out of the water – literally.

Ben’s favourite trick on a kite is jumping high with his latest WOO measure (11.8m – #1 in Aus) and his best trick on the water is teaching people to kite with more style and better technique.
Ben works for our partner retail shop  Ocean Addicts in QLD.  Check out his Stoke Coach sessions for the ultimate inspiration and see why you need to join him on tour.

Johnny Fassler – IKO Level 2 instructor, Padi Dive Instructor & Watersports Extraordinaire

We just can’t get Johnny out of the water; If he’s not kiting he is diving, kayaking, SUPing, spear fishing or surfing. This South African Mer-man joins our team from the Caribbean to coach our intermediate to advanced kiters through new moves and big challenges or take you down to depth you never thought possible on our freedive tours.

Johnny loves riding overpowered and doing “old-school” style tricks. Jumping, sliding and board offs are his favorite moves, but is also newly addicted to, and thoroughly enjoys the unique feeling of riding a hydrofoil.

Amy Dombroski – Head Cook,  Nutritionist & SUP Instructor

Amy knows what kiters need to fuel their day of hardcore activity: Healthy and nutritious meals… and lots of them.  With years of experience cooking in remote and challenging environments, Amy knows how to get the most out of the limited resources available to the Islands.

We believe everyone needs a Kiwi close by to keep life relaxed, fun & friendly; and besides, she makes the best cakes, biscuits and treats to accompany the daily breakfasts, lunches and dinners you get on every Zephyr tour.

Levi Fowler – IKO Instructor and Tour Guide

The all round nice guy who can do it all! Kite, fish, SUP, dive and teach.
Levi’s patience and simple explanations of technique is easily understood by all his students.

Levi lives part time on Cocos and part time in the rest of the world, living by his Instagram handle of Kite_Work_Travel; in that exact order too.

Adam Stern – Padi Ambassador and Aussie Freediving record holder.

Adam is our Main Man for all of our Cocos Islands freediving tours. He’s fun, energetic and his super relaxed demeanour underwater is contagious.

Tom Hebert – New Caledonia local and North Team Rider.

We have been having fun with Tom since 2010.  Behind his cool, crazy, pin-up boy image is a professional and patient guy who is dedicated to inspiring everyone who kites to have fun – and to make it stylish #newcalstyle !
