Cocos Islands

Cocos Keeling Islands – Australia

Made up of 27 islands, the Cocos Islands form a ring around a central lagoon. Only 2 islands are populated – Home Island, where approximately 500 Coco-Malay’s reside and West Island, where the 100 Australian/expat residents live. The Cocos Keeling Islands have been owned by Australia since 1978.

Due to the Islands’ size there are only about 30-40 tourists on the island at any one time with just 2 flights a week.

West Island is about 15km’s long and approximately 1 km wide. Its lack of development makes the Cocos extremely unique; there are no resorts, no street or beach sellers, no large shops… just wind, water, coconuts and a very relaxing environment!

No matter if you are kiting, diving or SUPing, the atoll always offers a place with ideal winds or, ideal shelter.

There is plenty to do on the Islands which we try to include in all of our tours.

Thursday night is re-known for a good old fashioned game of Scroungers Golf across the international run way. Joining the West Island locals with a six pack and a set of clubs will leave you feeling like a local yourself; a must do for everyone… no skills required!

Wednesdays are always reserved for a luxury cruise on the Cocos ferry for a Home Island cultural tour and banquet with an authentic tasty Malay meal experience.

Fishing, snorkeling, scuba and surfing are also great things to experience out here; and where possible we always try to squeeze in these fun alternatives into each tour we run.
